The Rising Importance of Data in Budgets for National Accounts

  • Salary & benefits has traditionally comprised the majority of the budget for National Accounts teams.
  • The allocation for data has been steadily increasing over the years, and we expect this trend to continue. Mid-sized firms, with $25B-$100B in AUM, dedicate the highest percentage (11%) of their budgets to data compared to both larger and smaller firm respondents.
  • Broker/dealers have shifted away from including data packs in the cost of larger relationships and are increasingly charging separate fees for this information. The cost of data packs can vary significantly, ranging from $10,000 for contact information at smaller broker/dealers to $600,000 or $750,000 for detailed product usage data at large wirehouses.
