“Performance results had been quite strong, and I would attribute most of the increase sales to this fact, along with a bit of asset allocation shifts by advisers to emerging market equity,” Neil Bathon, founder of FUSE Research, said. Bathon attributes the decline in sales of passive products, which make up $981m of the total $6.4bn in diversified emerging markets assets, to some shorter-term performance volatility and the fact investors in these products typically having shorter holding periods compared to active strategies.
