“More and more of our clients are saying, ‘Our field person looks a lot like our hybrid right now,’” says Neil Bathon, founding partner of FUSE Research Network. While high-performing wholesalers will still be able to command advisors’ attention — and earn top dollar from asset managers — many firms are evaluating their sales staff’s skills, abilities and compensation to determine whether some of those external positions could be hybrids instead, he says.
