SEC Slows Rule Releases as Legal Challenges Loom

The Securities and Exchange Commission has slowed the release of several rules that were nearing the finish line last year, as it aims to gird its new regulations to withstand potential legal challenges, compliance consultants say. The SEC was trying to get a lot done before the 2024 election cycle, but the prospect of rules getting overturned in conservative courts will likely slow the pace of rulemaking, said Sam Campbell, a partner at FUSE Research Network.
