PIMCO deepens muni focus with niche interval fund

Unlisted closed end funds are growing in popularity, with the number of new products growing 28% from 108 to nearly 140,according to a report by FUSE research. Lord Abbett filed for its credit opportunities CEF earlier this month, which offers exposure to corporate, sovereign, muni and structured products. But among the most notable stories in interval funds so far this year has been ARK’s step into the space with the ARK Venture Fund. While ARK has had a significant impact on how retail investors engage with ETFs, the leap into interval funds may hinge on the success of the distribution technology as well as name recognition.
