Non-Compete Agreement Ban Could Upend Industry Norms

The Federal Trade Commission on Thursday proposed banning non-compete agreements between employers and workers, a move that’s aimed at removing an “exploitive” practice that it says prevents employees from earning higher wages by switching employers, and stifles competition. It is fairly common for top distribution, sales or product development leaders to have a non-compete agreement, said Pat Newcomb, a relationship manager at FUSE Research.
