Neuberger Berman to merge top performing large-cap funds

“This move to merge two funds strikes me as the standard operating procedure these days,” said Neil Bathon, managing partner with Fuse Research Network. “The small fund has a great performance track record but has not gained traction in large part because a much larger fund has an equally attractive track record. With anything less than $100m in assets, it is very difficult for a fund to gain access to distribution platforms. Value Fund shareholders get moved in to a great fund that is less expensive. [It’s] probably an easy decision for the fund board to approve.”
