Franklin Credits Sales Force Revamp for Sales Spike

The firm’s quarterly increase in gross sales is a “meaningful jump,” says Neil Bathon, managing partner at Fuse Research Network.

“We always measure productivity by gross sales because it doesn’t have [the] noise of bad performance undercutting what the sales team has been able to produce,” Bathon says. Investors typically redeem about 20% of a fund’s assets annually, and that percentage will increase substantially if the fund has notable underperformance, Fuse Research estimates.
