Marketing Organizational Structures

  • Based on findings from our Marketing 2022: Optimizing Marketing Strategies BenchMark report, the industry continues to move toward centralized marketing, with 84% of surveyed firms reporting having a centralized organizational structure for their marketing units. This is due to several reasons, including:
    • Many firms, regardless of size, have found decentralized structures to be too redundant and cost inefficient.
    • Additionally, decentralized units tend to create information silos, which can hinder cross-team synergy and effectiveness.
  • Furthermore, 14% of firms reported utilizing a semi-centralized structure, up from the 5-year average of 12%.
