Judith K. Benson brings more than 30 years’ experience in the investment management industry, including product, operations, compliance, and relationship management. Among her responsibilities, she has served as the chief operating officer and senior consultant of a financial services research and consulting firm; established and managed a start-up mutual fund business for one of the pre-eminent banking organizations in Boston, and also oversaw its defined contribution and defined benefit businesses; and was a senior officer in the custody services division of a major mutual fund manufacturer. Ms. Benson's consulting engagements have included: the development of products and the operational infrastructure for a de novo hedge fund business; providing guidance in a multi-billion dollar conversion involving common trust funds; development of a U.S. distribution strategy for an international asset manager; the design of compliance processes for a hedge fund/private equity orgaization; and the development and implementation of a strategic business plan for a performance-challenged mutual fund family. In addition to Ms. Benson's contributions to FUSE Research, she has authored articles or studies on topics such as target date and retirement income product trends, breakaway brokers, targeting affluent investors via hedge funds, and principal protection offerings. Ms. Benson is on the editorial board of the IMCA Wealth & Investments Monitor and was the named protagonist in BayFunds(R), a case of the Harvard Business School.
